For this group sprint project, we had to build the prototype of a landing page of a product/service, the goal was to implement AI into our workflow as much as we saw fit. The project began with being given a target audience generated by ChatGPT: eco-conscious advocates, users who care about their impact on the environment and are dedicated to making greener choices. Our product for this demographic is EcoBites, a recipe app where you find and share recipes made out of food scraps and switch out ingredients based on what you can find.
Since our target audience has great concern about environmental impact, we employed sustainable web design, which meant limiting our color choices, fonts and the types of files we could use for a website consuming fewer resources. The final prototype was built in Figma and we used ChatGPT for all the copy-text.

Logo design

We chose to make the logo a watermelon because it can fully be used in cooking, showing off the message that scraps people would throw away can actually be repurposed. AI was involved in the creation of the logo. Using Adobe Firefly I generated multiple batches of reference images of watermelons, after that I came up with a few logo sketches, discussed them with my teammates and arrived at the final vectorized design done in Adobe Illustrator. The SVG format also contributes to the eco-friendliness of the design.

Graphic assets

Keeping the sustainability of the website required we limit our images, and for that, we decided the decorative elements of the website will be simple SVG. To create the assets, I asked Adobe Firefly to generate images of food scraps; after multiple batches, I took small elements from each picture and used them as a base to create the actual asset.

Prototyping

After we did a few rounds of sketching and discussing, building the Figma prototype was a straightforward process. Sustainable web design entails limiting the content of the website in favor of causing less straight so the hi-fi design ended up being very minimalistic.
